4-Day Mara Express Safari

Nairobi → Maasai Mara → Nairobi, Kenya

This is a fast-paced Kenya safari focused on the legendary Maasai Mara. You get three full days in the reserve, staying in a comfortable tented camp. The Mara is one of the best wildlife destinations in Africa. Lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo, rhino. The Big Five are all here. If you time it right, you'll see the Great Migration. This is a private safari. Your own 4x4 and your own guide. No sharing with strangers.

Why the Maasai Mara

The Maasai Mara is Kenya's most famous wildlife reserve. It's the northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem. The wildlife is the same. The landscape is similar. But the Mara gets fewer visitors than the Serengeti's central plains. You'll have more space to watch the wildlife.

This safari is designed for travelers who have limited time but want the full Mara experience. Three full days in the reserve gives you enough time to explore different areas. The Big Five are all present. The Mara River is famous for its crocodiles and hippos. During the migration months, you'll see thousands of wildebeest and zebras crossing the river. No middleman. You're booking directly with us.

Maasai Mara landscape

Your guide picks you up at your Nairobi hotel around 7:00 AM. The drive to the Maasai Mara takes about five hours, passing through the Great Rift Valley. You'll see the escarpment drop away and the floor spread out below.

You arrive at the Mara in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. The reserve is open grassland dotted with acacia trees. Lions, elephants, giraffes, and zebras are common. Your guide will take you to areas with recent wildlife activity. By evening, you check into your tented camp. The sounds of the bush are different here more hyena calls, more night birds.

Good to know 5-hour drive from Nairobi. Lunch and dinner included. Overnight at tented camp.
Lion family in Maasai Mara

You leave camp at sunrise, when predators are most active. The morning light is soft and golden. The guide focuses on finding the Big Five. Lions are common in the Mara, often seen hunting or resting in the shade. Leopards are harder to spot but present. Elephants and buffalo are everywhere. Rhinos are rarer but can be found.

You stop for a packed lunch out in the bush. A thermos of coffee and sandwiches, eaten with the windows down and the sounds of the plains around you. The afternoon is spent exploring different parts of the reserve the river banks, the open plains, the wooded areas. By late afternoon, you head back to camp. Dinner is served around a fire.

Good to know Full day of game driving. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. Overnight at tented camp.
Leopard in Maasai Mara

Another full day in the Mara. Your guide will take you to different areas based on what you've already seen and where the wildlife is moving. The Mara is vast, and you've only scratched the surface.

If you're visiting during the migration months (July to October), the day will focus on the Mara River crossings. Thousands of wildebeest and zebras gather on the riverbanks before plunging into the water. The crocodiles wait below. The scene is one of the most dramatic in the natural world. You park at a distance and watch. It's a waiting game. When they move, they move fast.

If the migration has moved on, your guide will take you to the best areas for predator sightings. The leopards around the river are known for their hunting. The lions on the plains are visible from a distance.

Good to know Full day of game driving. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. Overnight at tented camp.
Wildebeest in Maasai Mara

Early morning game drive before breakfast. The early morning light is good for photography, and predators are often still active. It's your last chance to see the Mara in the quiet hour of dawn.

You return to camp for breakfast, pack up, and start the drive back to Nairobi. The road home is the same route but feels different. You pass through the Rift Valley one last time. Drop-off at your hotel or the airport. Safari ends.

Good to know 5-hour drive back to Nairobi. Breakfast and lunch included. Drop-off at hotel or airport.
Best time to visit the Maasai Mara

The Maasai Mara is accessible year-round. The dry season is the best time for wildlife viewing, but the green season has its own advantages.

  • July to October. Dry season. This is the best time for wildlife viewing. The Great Migration is in the Mara, and river crossings are common. The grass is shorter, making animals easier to spot.
  • November to June. Green season. The landscape is lush and green. Fewer tourists, lower rates. Wildlife is still abundant, but the grass is taller, making it slightly harder to spot animals.
  • January to February. Calving season. Wildebeest give birth in the southern Serengeti and the Mara. Predators are active and visible.
