5-Day Itinerary — Marangu Route

The only route with hut accommodations, offering a more comfortable climbing experience with varied ecosystems.

Arrival

Arrival in Tanzania

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Private transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Pre-climb briefing, equipment check, and rest.

Day 1

Moshi to Marangu Gate → Mandara Hut

Transfer to Marangu Gate. Trek through lush rainforest to Mandara Hut. Optional acclimatization walk around the area.

Day 2

Mandara Hut → Horombo Hut

Trek through rainforest transitioning into alpine zone. Reach Horombo Hut for overnight. Rest and hydrate well.

Day 3

Horombo Hut → Kibo Hut

Optional acclimatization walk. Continue to Kibo Hut, passing the last water point. Early dinner and rest for summit push.

Day 4

Summit Day: Kibo Hut → Uhuru Peak → Horombo Hut

Midnight summit attempt. Reach Uhuru Peak for sunrise. Descend to Kibo Hut then continue to Horombo Hut.

Day 5

Horombo Hut → Marangu Gate → Transfer

Descend to Marangu Gate. Celebration and certificate presentation. Transfer to hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
