7-Day Classic Tanzania Safari: Northern Circuit Adventure
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Depart from Arusha after breakfast for the scenic drive to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2.5 hours). Known as the "Elephant Playground," Tarangire boasts some of the largest elephant herds in Africa, along with ancient baobab trees that dot the landscape. Enjoy your first game drive, spotting lions, leopards, and diverse bird species. Stop for a picnic lunch at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the Tarangire River. In the afternoon, continue exploring the park's diverse habitats before heading to Maramboi Tented Lodge for dinner and overnight, situated between Tarangire and Lake Manyara with stunning sunset views.
Day 2: Tarangire to Central Serengeti
After an early breakfast, drive toward the Serengeti via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Stop at Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. Continue your journey, entering Serengeti National Park through Naabi Hill Gate with game viewing en route to your central Serengeti lodge. The endless plains unfold before you, home to the Great Migration (seasonal) and abundant resident wildlife. Arrive at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon on a game drive before returning for dinner and overnight, listening to the sounds of the African night.
Day 3-4: Full Days in Serengeti National Park
Two full days to explore the vast Serengeti ecosystem. Rise early for morning game drives when animals are most active, with optional balloon safari available (additional cost). Your expert guide will take you to prime wildlife viewing areas, searching for the Big Five and observing the intricate balance of predator and prey. Between game drives, return to the lodge for meals and relaxation. One afternoon, visit a local Maasai village to learn about their traditional culture (optional). Evenings feature sundowners overlooking the plains as you recount the day's sightings. Overnights at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Enjoy a final morning game drive in Serengeti with breakfast in the bush. Then depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping at a Maasai cultural boma en route. Arrive at the crater rim in time for lunch at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge, spectacularly perched on the edge with panoramic views. The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy lodge facilities or take a guided nature walk along the crater rim (weather permitting). Dinner and overnight at the lodge, with breathtaking views of the crater floor below.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Exploration
Descend into the crater at dawn for a full day of game viewing in this natural wonder. Ngorongoro Crater's enclosed ecosystem supports about 25,000 large animals, including the rare black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the scenic Hippo Pool, watching these massive creatures wallow in the water. The crater's diverse habitats - from open grasslands to acacia woodlands and soda lakes - support an incredible density of wildlife. Return to the lodge in late afternoon for relaxation and dinner. Overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge.
Day 7: Ngorongoro to Arusha
After breakfast, depart for Arusha with a stop at Mto wa Mbu village for cultural interactions and souvenir shopping. Arrive in Arusha by early afternoon for drop-off at your hotel or the airport, filled with memories of Tanzania's classic northern circuit and its magnificent wildlife.
